A must-see museum. I went specifically to see Gustav Klimt's work titled "The Kiss." However, it also houses many other valuable private collections. You leave your coats and bags in the cloakroom at the entrance and explore comfortably. You also have the opportunity to view works of modern art. There's also a very nice café inside.

If you are already in Vienna, it is a must to take a ride on the Giant Ferris Wheel. Unfortunately we had a bit of fog and the visibility was not so good, but the ride was still a unique experience ...

Very nice museum, wonderful palace in the winters loses some of its charm of colorful gardens but despite the cold it is still beautiful.

I loved the style of our guide Alexander. I don't buy guided tours usually - this was an exception which I truly appreciated. Alexander well balanced outdoor and indoor tour let me feel the historical touch.

Belvedere Palace highlights

Upper Belvedere Palace

After Empress Maria Theresa acquired the palace complex after the demise of Prince Eugene, she redesigned the Upper Belvedere into an exhibition venue for the art collections that were imperial. Hence, the place was turned into one of the world's first public museums.

Upper Belvedere Palace

Lower Belvedere Palace

The Lower Belvedere served as the residential building for Prince Eugene after its completion and marked the boundary between the Baroque building complex and the imperial city of Vienna. It is one of the prominent museums of the world today, with splendid artworks on display.

Lower Belvedere Palace

Belvedere Klimt experience

One of the biggest draws at the Belvedere is the Gustav Klimt collection. Get an Upper Belvedere entry ticket for direct access to iconic works such as The Kiss, Judith, and Portrait of Fritza Riedler. These paintings are not only central to Austrian culture but are also globally recognized symbols of the Art Nouveau movement.

Belvedere 21 Museum

The Belvedere 21 Museum features some of the most fascinating pieces of Modern Art acquired by the Austrian state since the end of WWII in the Artothek des Bundes. The museum includes sculptures by Lois Weinberger and Leopold Kessler and shows art films in the 1950's-style cinema, Blickle Kino.

Belvedere 21 Museum

Orangery

Initially a heated conservatory for citrus trees, the Orangery was reconverted into stables in 1805. When it was further redesigned, the interior of the Orangery was converted into a modern area that we see today, and hence the white cube exhibition space came into being.
