I have to say that I have rarely had such a good and, above all, competent tour guide. We were very impressed as a family!

It was impressive what the guide knew. You could tell that history was his thing. It wasn't memorized history, he knows the history of the castle very well. Everything was great, we would book again.

Very organized and signposted, with excellent conservation of historical objects, but the guide left a little to be desired because during the tour he spoke German and got lost in the translation into English

The guide had way too many side stories about Austrian government and politics. This is no concern of turists. Also chauvinistic/ sexist remarks about women are not in place. Otherwise he was ok

I liked very much the easy way we bought the tickets. Most of all, I enjoyed the way our guide - Yuliya Pavlovska Jilch - carried out our tour. I really liked the way she told the story of the royal family, I liked her subtle sense of humour and the care she took of us all. She is one gentle woman. I would recommend her to everyone! Thanks, Yuliya! :-)

It wasn't bad, the lady who showed us around was nice and everything, but I had actually expected more. We rushed through it in no time and there was no guided tour of the garden at all. Just a few explanations from the shade. For me, the whole thing was definitely not worth 48 euros. And I wouldn't book it again

I would rather let you know my problem with my tour - the description of the tour of the palace and gardens say that it is 3-1/2 hours long and our tour was only 1-1/2 hours with no explanation of why it was only half of the time even after asking our guide why were done at 12:00 when the tour started pomptly at 10:30??? The tickets were very expensive for what you received in return. No value add having the guide or using HEAD OUT whatsoever :(

  • Pets are not permitted on the tour, so be sure to make arrangements for them ahead of time if needed.

  • Depending on the tickets you choose, you’ll meet your guide at either the Group Center, the Ehrenhof Fountain (look for the green umbrella), or the Arrival Center at HOHO Bus Stop 30. Check your booking confirmation for the exact location.
  • Arrive 10 to 15 minutes before the scheduled start time, as latecomers will not be allowed to join the tour.
  • The tour is conducted in only one language, which is selected at the time of booking, so please choose your preferred language carefully.
  • Each tour is limited to a maximum of 25 participants to ensure a more personal and engaging experience.

  • The Privy Garden, Orangery Garden, Maze, Labyrinth, and Gloriette viewing terrace require separate tickets and close 30 to 45 minutes before daily closing (3:30pm to 6pm, depending on the season).

First of all, it was really nice to listen to our guide Oliver. I think that's the be-all and end-all of a tour like this. And I also found what was said during the tour very interesting - not too much and not too little. It was right to the point and really included the most important information. Of course, the castle was also extremely remarkable. All in all, we didn't regret booking the tour. Really top 👍🏽

The day at Schönbrunn Palace was an unforgettable experience. Despite the huge number of people, we were able to enjoy a very informative and amusing tour of the palace with our super friendly guide from Vienna without having to wait too long. Interesting tour with brief but comprehensive explanations related to the various monuments and their history. Due to lack of time I could not visit them, but did the whole tour on board the bus. However, experience to be repeated...with more time available!

The tour was as described. We traveled both lines and saw a lot. Unfortunately the air conditioning was defective in one bus. At 35 degrees it was like being in a sauna. We then changed to the next one. Here everything was okay again. Buses left every 20 minutes as described. You never had to wait long. That was really great. They weren't overcrowded either. Could generally be a bit cheaper. But apart from that everything was great.

The experience was good, but it could have been better. It is not very well explained where the buses leave from, and where they arrive, the drivers are not very friendly and do not help the tourist. The drivers do not speak a word of English, living in a city as touristic as VIENNA, I think that is unacceptable. The stops are not clear, the services of the different colors of the tourist bus are confused.

We always like to use the hop-on hop-off bus tour for our city tours. It gives you a great overview of the sights and you can hop on and off at any stop. So far we've done this in Berlin, Munich, Dresden, Vienna and Budapest - everything went really well!

Route, description, music Note: unfortunately very long waiting times, a 25-minute interval would be perfect. The yellow bus from the competition came by more often. With the large volume of traffic, there should be 2 more buses. That was a pity.

The staff were not always friendly, especially one of the drivers who was rude and incorrect, the heat, due to the plexiglass roof on the outside (there are buses that don't have roofs in hot weather...for 42 euros, you'd expect a certain level of comfort!) the content, which deserves to be explored in greater depth.

An uncomplicated way to get to know a city. It's best to buy a ticket for 2 days. Slightly more expensive, but worth it. Very detailed information in many languages via headphones. It is a bit tricky to adjust them. Buses stop at the most important sights and run every 20 minutes. At least in Vienna. Highly recommended. Best to book online

With the two routes on offer, you could get a good overview of Vienna. Ideal if you can't / don't want to walk that much and want to be accompanied by an audio guide through the city. The headphones are available free of charge on the bus.

The tour is very well done and the stages are interesting but access to the starting point is not clear. When I clicked on the link to the starting point, I was connected to Google maps, but the address was not correct for the bus stop. It wasn't on the right street. And upstream, it didn't say that we couldn't start the tour at any point.

We would book the Hop-On Hop-Off bus again and again. Thank you!

Very good audio guide 1st bus: jolts that make you sick( blue line) Long waits at stops. I prefer the red line. 2h: too long Having taken a 2-day pass, we only used it for one day, as it was better to do EVERYTHING on foot. Too many similarities between the 2 lines...for the center.

The number of lines allows everyone to choose their own route. Explanations are sometimes very succinct. The choice of languages is important. On the other hand, the number of headsets per passenger could be limited. Self-service doesn't help avoid this waste. We could also organize eco-friendly driving for the drivers. Sudden stops and braking

The staff were very friendly and the buses arrived at the stops on time. Changing buses, e.g. from the yellow to the blue line, also went quickly and without any problems. The background noise and the music of the announcer were a little annoying, so that the announcements were not always clear to understand. We would have preferred music only between the explanations. We can recommend the tour.

A very comprehensive insight into the history and geography of this time-honored city! The multilingual guide is informative and entertaining, thankfully not gendered. Broad and deep introduction, well structured, broken up by appropriate music. Unfortunately some technical glitches - please wait more carefully! The real departure times should be communicated more transparently, there is no air conditioning in the heat.

I was unpleasantly surprised that I had to pick up the tickets in the city center. I ordered and paid online and was planning to hop on a location close to my appartment. I however had to book a taxi to go to the city center to pick up my tickets. What's the use of ordering online then? How easy is it to provide a code when ordering online that serves as a ticket? Sorry, this is really old fashioned and will not consider ordering online again

I was expecting to be able to board a bus straight away when I bought online. That wasn't clear to me when I made the purchase. Only after booking did I receive the information that I had to travel to a certain stop to redeem the ticket first. I hadn't planned for that. In addition, as a group of 11 people, we deliberately didn't get off the bus because we were afraid that we wouldn't be able to get back on together at an intermediate stop because the buses were so full and only a few people got off at a time. It would be better if you knew in advance that you would get a seat. For example, if you can reserve seats or similar.

As instructed. we arrived 15 minutes early to commence the tour at 11am. Once the tour guide collected the entry tickets, we finally entered the Upper Belvedere Palce to commence the guided tour of the art gallery at 11.45am. The tour guide was very quietly spoken and at times difficult to hear Very dissapointing content Poor value for money

Exceptional! Guided tour to the Upper Belvedere - Vienna We quickly found our guide, Otilia, who turned out to be a knowledgeable, kind and very helpful professional. She took us with great passion through the halls of the museum, making us dwell on some particularly significant works and carefully describing them, even dwelling on details that we probably would have ignored on our own. A truly enjoyable and interesting experience, which I highly recommend to anyone who wants to visit the Belvedere with a knowledgeable and passionate guide.

Attentive to the group, speaking slowly and clearly, providing interesting stories, linking history, art, architecture, artists' lives etc. Knows a lot and pasinate about what he does. The audio headphones were really useful, we could hear Dieter easily all the time. My family enjoyed this experience and thank you once again for the unforgettable visit.

The boat trip itself. The service for the outward and return journey was very friendly. Bratislava is very beautiful. A great old town with lots of places to eat. What I missed was a warm welcome by announcement to all passengers and regular information along the Danube. The breakfast and afternoon snack were very tasty. Lunch was so-so and the buffet was not to my liking.

The ship was great - I liked the inside area and the front deck. The deck at the back has more tables and chairs with a shade, but it is a smoking area. The trip itself was nice, but quite long (13 hours). The staff was great - friendly, efficient and helpful. The food was OK, cantine type, but I didn't expext anything special anyway. The a la carte drinks menu is good, although the prices are a bit high.

I liked the wide range of attractions covered by the pass, including the fact that you can use the hop-on hop-off buses without restrictions. There were never any problems scanning the code. Unfortunately, "Time Travel" was not included. There is a slight deduction in the rating for the fact that - at least for me - downloading to the cell phone was cumbersome. I would have liked to have received a pass in card form at the info center. So I always had to hope that my cell phone battery wouldn't die in the meantime Unfortunately you had to pay an extra €9 in Schönbrunn to see all the rooms. But it was still worth it. The booklet accompanying the pass should definitely include the opening times of the attractions! The pass was helpful for me overall.

Although the tickets in the app said they could be used directly at the Belvedere Palace, at the entrance the tickets were not recognized. The digital tickets (available on the App) clearly said that it was not necessary to exchange them for physical tickets, as the digital tickets were accepted. After 30 minutes of phone calls to various locations by Belvedere Palace staff and receiving proof that we had paid for the tickets, we were allowed to visit the Palace.

  • Pack an umbrella or raincoat, since many buses have open-top seating and sudden weather changes can make the ride uncomfortable.

Schönbrunn Palace

  • Wear comfortable walking shoes; the grounds are vast, and even the State Rooms alone can take a few hours to explore fully.
  • Pack weather-appropriate clothing: lightweight, breathable layers in summer; warm layers, waterproof outerwear, hats, gloves, and scarves in winter.
  • Carry a hat, sunglasses, and sunscreen to protect against sun exposure when exploring the gardens in summer.

Belvedere Palace

  • Wear comfortable, closed footwear to manage the expansive grounds, steep terraces, and long walks through the gardens and between buildings.
  • Bring a smartphone with audio-guide functionality or the Smartify app to scan artworks and access detailed information that enhances your visit.
  • Carry cash or a card for café purchases at spots like the Menagerie Café in the Upper Belvedere.

What’s not allowed

Hop-on-hop-off bus tour

  • Pets are not allowed, except for dogs that are leashed, muzzled, and under knee height, with a maximum of one dog permitted per bus.
  • Luggage, bicycles, or similarly large items are not permitted onboard and must be stored separately, as space is limited.
  • Avoid using personal speakers or making loud phone calls to ensure everyone can enjoy the audio commentary.

Schönbrunn Palace

  • Drones, selfie sticks, tripods, flash photography, and lighting equipment are prohibited at Schönbrunn. You may only use your mobile phone for non-commercial photos.
  • There is no storage available for luggage, umbrellas, large bags, or extra clothing, so please travel light and leave unnecessary items behind.
  • Pets are not permitted on the tour, so be sure to make arrangements for them ahead of time if needed.
  • Bicycles and personal vehicles are strictly prohibited inside the palace park.

Belvedere Palace

  • Photography is allowed only for private, non-commercial use and must be without flash, tripods, or selfie-sticks; certain rooms or exhibits also explicitly prohibit photography.
  • Large bags, travel backpacks, suitcases, and umbrellas are not permitted inside exhibition spaces and must be checked in the cloakroom.
  • Food and beverages are not allowed in any exhibition rooms, but you can purchase refreshments at the Schlosscafé, Parkcafé, and Lucy Bar.

Accessibility

Hop-on-hop-off bus tour

  • Most Vienna hop-on hop-off buses are wheelchair accessible, but availability is limited and often requires prior coordination with the provider.
  • Mobile app tracking and live route maps can help wheelchair users locate accessible boarding stops and plan the most comfortable route.

Schönbrunn Palace

  • This tour is not suitable for wheelchair users, as parts of Schönbrunn Palace can only be reached via staircases and there is no step-free access to several of the historic State Rooms.

Belvedere Palace

  • The Belvedere Palace is wheelchair accessible, featuring ramps and elevators throughout Upper and Lower Belvedere.
  • Wheelchairs may be borrowed free of charge at cloakrooms or ticket offices.
  • Accessible toilets are available in all primary buildings; seating is provided in galleries, and folding stools are also available at cloakrooms.
  • Service dogs are welcome, provided they are registered on a Disability Card.
  • Although the gardens are accessible via step-free paths, we recommend bringing a companion for assistance, as the sloped terrace between the Upper and Lower Belvedere is not fully barrier-free.

Additional information

Hop-on-hop-off bus tour

  • Vienna hop-on-hop-off buses run across multiple routes (Red, Blue, Yellow), covering up to 50 stops, including major sights such as Schönbrunn Palace, the Belvedere, Prater, and the Ringstrasse.
  • Buses generally operate from around 9:30am until 5pm, with departures every 15 to 30 minutes depending on the route and time of year.
  • Seating is first-come, first-served**,** so during peak seasons such as summer and the Christmas market period, it’s best to arrive early, especially if you want an upper-deck seat with the best views.
  • Use live bus tracking and downloadable route maps before or during your journey to plan your timing and connections more efficiently.

Schönbrunn Palace

  • In the event of extreme weather conditions such as snow, the garden portion of the tour may be skipped for safety reasons. From November 8 to January 6, a visit to a local Christmas Market will be offered instead.

Belvedere Palace

  • Visiting early in the day or post‑3pm can help you avoid crowds, as the period between 11am and 2pm tends to be busiest.
  • Enjoy a pause at cafés like Menagerie Café and the Lucy Bar, where you can relax with refreshments and take in the views before continuing your tour.
  • You can cancel these tickets up to 24 hours before the experience begins and get a full refund.

I recently had the pleasure of taking a guided tour at the Hofburg Vienna, and it was an exceptional experience! Our guide was incredibly knowledgeable and passionate about the history and architecture of this magnificent palace. They brought the stories of the Habsburg dynasty to life with fascinating anecdotes and detailed explanations. The tour was well-paced, allowing us to fully appreciate the grandeur of the imperial apartments, the stunning collections in the museums, and the beautiful gardens. Our guide was also very attentive, answering all our questions with patience and enthusiasm. I highly recommend this guided tour to anyone visiting Vienna. It’s a fantastic way to delve into the rich history of the city and gain a deeper understanding of its cultural heritage. Five stars!

The guide was competent and friendly. Unfortunately, it was so crowded that you couldn't really see everything, e.g. the chronological order of the Sisi paintings. What a pity! In addition, not all rooms were open to visitors due to the construction work. Mmh, some information would have been fair. For a bit more Hofburg flair, I visited the library, which cost me another entrance fee.

The tour by our guide was great. The museum itself was an imposition. The organization seems to be designed for maximum profit. Far too cramped, far too full. It would be better to organize it in such a way that guided tours are allowed in at certain times, and private visitors are also allowed in at other times. MfG Hoffmann
