Discover Kunstschatzi | Kunsthistorisches Museum Party, Vienna’s ultimate monthly cultural event

What is the Kunsthistorisches Museum party?

Every month, the Kunsthistorisches Museum Vienna holds a party in its Cupola Hall, transforming the historic space under its grand dome into a vibrant social scene. Known as “Kunstschatzi”, this event blends the museum’s rich cultural atmosphere with an exciting night of music, art, and socializing. It’s one of the most popular events on the city’s social calendar – literally! (Tickets are known to sell out within minutes.)

What to expect at the Kunstschatzi

Unique themes

The event features a different theme each month, usually based on a particular exhibition or artwork at the museum. Recent themes included “New Beginnings” (for the New Year), “You’re So Golden”, and “#InclusiveMuseum”. Past events have also been themed around female subjects of the museum’s artworks, festivals like Halloween, and animals depicted in the museum’s paintings (“The Beast Within”).

Guided tours

Kunstschatzi attendees can go on exclusive guided tours of the museum’s galleries, based on the party’s theme. For instance, December 2024’s “You’re So Golden” theme included a ‘Golden Girls, Golden Guys’ tour featuring some of the museum’s more risqué artworks. These tours are held in English and German and offer unique perspectives and insights into the art collections. So you can sip on your drink as you contemplate the masterpieces.

DJs, music, & dance

Live DJs from the Radio Rudina online radio channel, like YPSY and DJ LELO, curate an eclectic mix of music, transforming the grand hall into a dynamic dance floor. Live dance performances, showcasing various styles and artistic expressions, add to the vibrant atmosphere, complete with disco balls. Lose yourself in the music and dance the night away.
